Philanthropy

  •

  • The women of Alpha Chi Omega have, since the beginning, demonstrated their generosity, their compassion, their commitment to their own, and their commitment to the greater good.

Alpha Chi Omega works throughout the nation to build awareness of domestic violence, to help prevent it, and to aid those who are victims of it. You can help us give back by doing any of the following:

           - Attend our fall Philanthropy event(s)
           - Donate items to the Women's Resource Center or YWCA
           - Advocate for Victim's Rights during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October)

Our members are encouraged to take part in one of the many volunteer opportunities at the YWCA that are offered on a regular basis. In addition to our time and service, all proceeds raised through our philanthropic events go directly to YWCA to help with their programs for victims of Domestic Violence.

From September 21-23, Psi chapter brought a new event to the University of Oklahoma. The chapter hosted our first annual ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ to raise money for and awareness about domestic violence. The week was filled with very fun and beneficial activities. We started the week with our fifth annual Have a Pie at Alpha Chi, followed by Game Day (for the fraternities) and Build Your Own Burrito.

We rounded out the week with Andrea Cooper telling Kristin's Story followed by Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. Over 1,000 people attended the weeks events and 24 brave men, dressed in drag, walked/ran South Greek in high heels to raise awareness for domestic violence. It was such a positive week that we can't wait to repeat next year!
