Alpha Chi Omega encourages our members to support victims of domestic violence through connections with local agencies and to assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and hands-on activities to eliminate domestic violence.
Philanthropy is defined as the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.
I think this definition spells out everything that we try to do with our events every semester. Not only do we raise thousands of dollars to donate to victims of domestic violence, but we also strive to raise awareness for those victims and educate those in our community.
This year our philanthropy included "Have a Pie at Alpha Chi" where over 250 pies were donated. Our leftover pies were donated to Meals on Wheels! Our second semester philanthropy was "Fiesta on the Southside" where we had tacos and chips and salsa provided by On the Border. All of the money gained from these two events went to local agencies that support victims of domestic violence! We look forward to next year's philanthropies to earn even more money for our cause.
