Psi Chapter, Alpha Chi Omega - University of Oklahoma
On the 14th day of January, 1916, upon the petition of 16 women led by Ruth Eileen Snell, Psi became a chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity. For many years, Psi's home was much smaller, and located at what is now an office building on the corner of Boyd and Jenkins on the northeast corner of campus. But through the years, our chapters growth made it impossible for us to remain at our first home, and 1115 College, our beautiful colonial structure, became home to Psi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity. It has been the home away from home for generations of Alpha Chi Omegas, having been remodeled and expanded to accommodate the Chapter’s impressive growth in prominence and size.
The warmth, dignity and strength of the house reflects Psi’s long fraternal bonds. Those who enter our house as guests are welcome. Those who enter as sisters are forever blessed.
The above picture is the original charter of Psi Chapter, which hangs just outside of our chapter room. The charter is accompanied by the pin of Ruth Eileen Snell, Psi's first initiate.
